Tax Tip Tuesday: Update New Department of Labor Overtime Regulations
A federal district court judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking the U.S. Department of Labor's new "white collar" overtime pay mandate.
Employers, including not-for-profits, are not required to comply with or implement the requirements of the overtime rule that was slated to go into effect on December 1, 2016. The new requirement would have extended eligibility for overtime to workers not previously subject to overtime rules because of their compensation level. Here is a previous edition of Tax Tip Tuesday that covers the topic in more detail.
This rule may still be implemented in the future, but the litigation surrounding the rule will take some time to play out.
